We awaken early, curtains blowing,
shutters slamming pissed against the house,
a stiff, unsettling rustle of leaves on Whirl Away Road,
a spring breeze gone wild which brings frost to June on Cape Charles.
Climate warming is a sneaky affair.
For all we know, the chill I'm feeling
might be from a glacier crawling out of my cellar.
I think I'll hibernate till July.
